What is the PivotLok?
The
PivotLok is a self locking, ball swivel positioner that, when securely
mounted on a work bench or pedestal, combines holding and moving of the
project being worked on from its former location to a new angle or
attitude by use of a ball swivel. By allowing the project to be rotated
horizontally and perpendicularly the best position can be found for the
work being performed. The PivotLok is a tool that allows you to
work more comfortably. It allows the user to work at an angle that more
fully suits the direction of motion of the hands and arms. The PivotLok
can take jobs that require a work piece to be manipulated into
different positions to do properly and hold them easily and securely
into a fixed position to bring the work to the users hands. The
PivotLok allows the access of tools to the wWork in a convenient and
safe manner allowing for better work productivity while being safe and
reducing joint and tendon damage from repetitive motion. BACK TO TOP OF PAGE
Why do I need a PivotLok?
Employers
who make the decision to invest in ergonomic tools that lessen the
frequency and costliness of workplace injuries will not only find a
decrease in workers' compensation costs but will also discover other
gains as well. Improvements in productivity, reduced cost per unit
produced as well being a safer way to do the job.
In
the better, forward thinking companies, ergonomics plays an important
role in reducing the overall cost of producing finished goods.
Employees experience less fatigue and can complete their assigned tasks
quicker and safer.
The
implementation of the effective ergonomics in the workplace will
produce returns of significant magnitude for the company. By selecting
ergonomically designed equipment and making sure it is used correctly,
management will be rewarded with lower disability costs, insurance
premiums, lower absenteeism, increased productivity, fewer rejects and
a greater quality of the work life, etc. All important components to
improve profitability and the ability to compete more effectively.
Companies
that have gotten on board with ergonomics and are constantly looking
for better, more efficient ways of doing the job are reap the benefits
of lower overall costs of doing business. BACK TO TOP OF PAGE
What makes the PivotLok PL 325 so different from the other units out there?
The
PivotLok PL 325 is a new technology in work positioning. Other units
require that you not only have to loosen with the turn of a screw, the
unlocking of a cam or the release of hydraulic pressure to move your
work piece, but you also have to do the same thing to secure your work
in place. That means that you have to consciously and purposely
retighten them to the proper tension to safely and securely lock them
in place.
What makes the
PivotLok stand out from all the rest is that it is “self locking”. All
the user has to do is depress the lever, freely move and position the
work piece to the desired place and “let go”. Once the user releases
the lever the PivotLok automatically secures the work piece in place.
Gone are the days of screws to loosen and retighten, cams to lock and
unlock, pneumatics or hydraulics. Just “let go”. It’s that easy. This
not only makes using the PivotLok easier and faster to use but it makes
it safer as well.

What about the design and build quality?
The PivotLok was designed and built to withstand the day to day rigors of the manufacturing environment.
¸ Aircraft quality, porosity free casting made from 356 aluminum heat treated to a T6 condition
¸ All other aluminum parts made from 6061-T6 solid billet.
¸ Epoxy powder coat finish.
¸ All steel parts in a wear location are heat treated for a lifetime of use.
¸ All components are CNC machined to close tolerances.
¸ All assembly performed on a PivotLok PL 325. BACK TO TOP OF PAGE
Does the PivotLok have a warranty?
The PivotLok has a 3 year warranty for all components. For 36 months, you break it, we’ll fix it! Simple! BACK TO TOP OF PAGE
Do we use the PivotLok PL 325?
Absolutely!!
We use the PivotLok PL 325 every day to assemble the PivotLok PL 325!
It's like a parent/child relationship. The base casting (child) is
mounted to a "U" shaped (horse shoe shaped) custom holding fixture
mounted to the parent PivotLok PL 325 on a rigid pedestal. This method
allows us to freely move the unit to any position and then have it
rigidly locked in place to complete a particular assembly task. BACK TO TOP OF PAGE

What is the weight capacity of the PivotLok PL 325?
The
PivotLok PL325 can easily support 40 lbs. (18 kg.) 2” from the center
of the ball. The size of the work piece and the distance from the
center of the pivot ball also will determine what load can be used. BACK TO TOP OF PAGE
How should the PivotLok PL 325 be mounted?
We
recommend a solid mounting surface such as a workbench or a pedestal
securely anchored to the floor. The PivotLok PL 325 was not designed to
be used un-mounted. The more solid and rigid the mounting surface the
more you will appreciate the PivotLok PL 325 design and build quality. BACK TO TOP OF PAGE
Can the PivotLok PL 325 be used for machining operations?
NO!
The PivotLok PL 325 was not designed to be a holding or positioning
tool on machinery of any type. We do not recommend using the PivotLok
PL 325 for any machining operations or any uses on machinery at all.
Machining operations can exert pressures that can exceed the PivotLok
PL 325's ability to hold securely causing harm to the work piece, the
PivotLok PL 325, and worse, can cause injury to the operator.

How adaptable is the PivotLok to custom made fixtures and holding devices?
The
PivotLok PL 325 was specifically designed for the easy adaptation of
specialized tooling. The pivot ball has a 1” dia. keyed socket with a
5/16-18 steel insert tapped hole to secure any fixture you might want
to attach to it.
